Choosing a home care company in Dubai can be confusing. There are more than 250 licensed home healthcare providers, alongside many other companies offering elderly care, caregivers and support at home. Websites can look similar, services can sound similar, and price is often the easiest thing to compare.
But when you invite someone into your home to care for you or a family member, there are more important questions to ask.
Here are six things we believe every family should check before choosing a home care company in Dubai.
1. Check That It Is Actually a DHA-Licensed Home Healthcare Company
Don’t just ask, “Are you licensed?” Ask, “Are you licensed by the Dubai Health Authority to provide home healthcare?”
Some companies provide domestic services such as cleaning, babysitting or household help and may also advertise elderly care or support at home. That is not the same as being a healthcare provider licensed and regulated by the Dubai Health Authority (DHA).
If you are looking for nursing, elderly care or other healthcare services at home, check that the company itself is registered with the DHA and licensed to provide the service you require.
Ask to see the DHA licence, or verify the provider through the DHA‘s list of licensed healthcare facilities.
There is an important difference between someone who can help an elderly person at home and a healthcare professional providing regulated care. Know which one you are hiring.
2. Ask Where the Home Care Company in Dubai Has Its Office
Where is your office? Can I visit it?
Home care may be delivered in the patient’s home, but there should be an established organization behind the people providing that care.
Look at where the company operates from and whether you can visit its office. Its premises can give you another indication of the scale, infrastructure and organizational stability behind the home care service.
You are not simply hiring an individual nurse or caregiver. You are hiring the organization standing behind them.
3. Ask If the Home Care Company in Dubai Pays Staff on Time
“Are your nurses and other staff paid their salaries on time?”
It may seem like an unusual question to ask a home care company, but it can tell you something important about the organization.
Home healthcare depends heavily on its workforce. Regular and reliable payroll supports staff stability and can help reduce unnecessary staff turnover.
For patients receiving long-term home care, staff turnover matters. It can mean repeatedly adjusting to new nurses, rebuilding trust and familiarizing new staff with the patient’s condition, routines and preferences.
A company’s ability to consistently meet its obligations to its staff is also an indication of responsible and sustainable management.
Staff stability supports continuity of care.
4. Ask How the Home Care Company in Dubai Trains Its Nurses
Don’t just ask, “Are your nurses trained?”
Ask:
“What training do they receive? Who provides the training? How often are they trained? And how do you know they are competent?”
There is a difference between attending a training session and demonstrating competency in a clinical skill.
If your family member has specific or complex healthcare needs, ask how nurses are prepared to provide that care. Does the company provide its own clinical training? Who conducts it? Are nurses assessed before being assigned to patients requiring particular skills?
Training should not end when a nurse is hired. Healthcare changes, patient needs change and clinical competencies need to be maintained.
Ask how the company knows that the nurse coming into your home can safely provide the care you need.
5. Ask Who Supervises the Nurse — and How Often
“Who supervises the nurse caring for my family member, and how often will they actually see the patient?”
Home healthcare is different from hospital care. The nurse may spend many hours caring for a patient without another healthcare professional physically present.
That makes clinical supervision particularly important.
Ask whether clinical supervisors visit patients in their homes. Ask how frequently they review the care being delivered, who the nurse contacts when there is a concern, and what happens if the patient’s needs change.
A nurse should not simply be assigned to your home and left to manage alone.
Good home healthcare has a clinical team supporting the nurse behind the scenes.
6. Ask What Happens When the Patient Becomes Unwell
Ask one very simple question:
“If my family member develops a fever, what will you do?”
The answer can tell you a great deal about the clinical support behind a home care service.
Will the nurse have someone clinical to call? Will the patient’s condition be assessed? Is there access to a doctor when appropriate? Can a medical review be arranged at home, or is the only option to advise the family to go directly to the Emergency Department?
There will always be situations where going to hospital is the safest and most appropriate decision. But not every change in a patient’s condition automatically requires an Emergency Department visit.
A home healthcare provider should have clear processes for recognizing deterioration, escalating concerns and determining the appropriate next step.
This can be especially important for elderly patients and people living with complex or long-term medical conditions. An unnecessary trip to the Emergency Department can be difficult for the patient and family, while delaying hospital care when it is genuinely needed can be dangerous.
Before choosing a home care company, understand who will support you when something changes — not just who will provide the scheduled care.
How to Choose the Best Home Care in Dubai
When comparing home care companies in Dubai, price is important — but price alone tells you very little about the organization that will be responsible for your care.
Check the DHA licence. Visit the office. Ask about staff stability and whether salaries are paid on time. Find out how nurses are trained and supervised. And ask what will actually happen when your family member becomes unwell.
Then ask one final question:
“How do you prove that all of these systems actually work?”
International accreditation is one way a home healthcare provider can demonstrate that its quality, governance, safety and organizational systems have been independently evaluated against recognized standards.
Accreditation does not mean a home care company is perfect. It means the organization has chosen to be measured, to identify where it can improve, and to continually work towards safer, more effective and sustainable care.
At Enayati Home Health Care, we believe families should ask difficult questions before choosing a provider. Those questions help you look beyond advertising, price and promises and understand the organization behind the care.
The best home health care in Dubai should be measured, not just claimed.
