How Home IV Therapy Works
IV antibiotics are often part of care after a hospital stay — see how our home nursing team supports recovery at home. Every visit begins with a review of your prescription and a short assessment of your history and IV access. Your nurse then arrives at your home with hospital-grade infusion equipment and all necessary sterile supplies, setting up carefully to keep everything clean and safe. The infusion is administered and monitored throughout, with your comfort and safety the priority at every step, and your nurse will watch for any reaction and answer any questions as you go. Once treatment is complete, we document the session and, where relevant, share updates and any blood-test results with your treating doctor — so your wider care team always has the full picture. There is nothing for you to arrange beyond being at home; we bring everything needed for safe, professional care.

Can we hire a home care nurse from you to live with us?
No. Enayati is not a manpower supply firm. Our nurses are employed directly by Enayati on our own employment visas, work a maximum of 12 hours per day, and are transported home at the end of each shift.
Can you insert PICC Lines?
No. PICC line insertion is a specialised procedure carried out in hospital under imaging guidance. Enayati does not insert PICC lines at home, but once your line is placed, our nurses provide full PICC line care at home in Dubai — including dressing changes, flushing, and monitoring.
Are there any risk with inserting an IV line?
When an IV is inserted by a trained, licensed nurse, home IV therapy is very safe — but as with any intravenous treatment, there are some risks patients should know about. The most common is phlebitis, an irritation or inflammation of the vein that can cause redness, warmth, or tenderness around the site. Less commonly, a small blood clot (thrombophlebitis or thrombosis) can form in the vein, and there is always a small risk of infection or a blocked line. Our nurses use sterile, single-use equipment, choose the vein carefully, and follow strict infection-control standards to keep these risks low. They also check the site regularly for any early signs of phlebitis or clotting, so problems are caught and managed quickly. If anything looks unusual, your nurse acts straight away — giving you hospital-standard safety in the comfort of your home.
Can you leave the IV in my hand so I don’t get repeated pricks?
Yes if we have nursing team in the home monitoring, we can leave a cannula in for 72hours. When you need treatment over several days, a nurse can often leave a small IV cannula safely in place so you don’t need a new prick each time. The cannula is secured and cared for between doses, and it is changed at the recommended intervals to keep it clean and working well. This is much more comfortable for patients on ongoing therapy — and for longer treatments, a PICC line or port may be an even better option, which our team can also advise on.
Why does the nurse throw out the IV bag and tubing each day?
For your safety. Once an IV bag is opened and connected, it can only be used for a limited time before there is a risk of bacteria growing in the fluid — so any unused fluid and the giving set (tubing) are discarded rather than kept for the next day. Using fresh, sterile equipment for each treatment is a strict infection-control standard that protects you from infection. It may look like waste, but it is a deliberate safety measure that keeps every dose clean and safe.
